events in the outdoor area
Indoor events: Public areas and lecture halls
- Events in publicly accessible areas, such as corridors, foyers, work cafés, etc. can be approved until 6:30 p.m. on weekdays.
- Events in lecture halls can be approved until 22:00.
- Indoor events on weekends cannot be approved. Ruhr University Bochum is closed on weekends. You can find more information on this in the Serviceportal. An exception can be made via the dean's offices. Please contact the dean's office responsible for you.
indoor events: Faculty-owned rooms
- Events in the faculty's own rooms can be held until 22:00. This does not require separate approval. The regulations below for organizing an event must be observed.

Regulations for the organization of an event
additional electricity requirements
- Additional power requirements can be provided on weekdays between 07:00 and 15:30. This does not apply to barbecue areas. Additional power requirements at barbecue areas are possible daily until 22:00.
- You will receive further details on electricity requirements with the permit.
Stands with electric cooking utensils (e.g. waffle stands, mulled wine stands etc.)
- Stands with private, electric cooking utensils can only be approved in the outdoor area.
Catering in the indoor area
- Catering with cold food in the indoor area can be approved.
- Catering with hot food in the indoor area can only be approved if it is provided by a professional caterer
Alcohol
- Alcohol consumption is prohibited at Ruhr University Bochum, as it could disrupt security and order.
- Exceptions: For example, champagne receptions after anniversary or academic celebrations. The consumption of alcohol must be requested in advance via the event form
