Help in case of emergency

In the event of accidents or other emergency situations, it is important to react quickly and take the right measures to rescue people or contain the danger. Only the rapid reaction of the people present and a well-functioning rescue chain can prevent an acute deterioration and possible consequential damage in an emergency.

At RUB, the rescue chain begins with a call to the RUB control room:

Telephone number: 23333 (RUB internal)
Telephone number: 0234 32 23333 (e.g. from a cell phone)

Emergency management at the RUB

Ruhr-Universität Bochum has an efficient emergency management system. RUB's objectives in an emergency or crisis situation are always

  • Averting danger to life and limb
  • Rapid provision of interfaces to the emergency response organizations
  • Establish prompt availability of necessary resources
  • Clear internal and external communication

Deployment levels have been defined to enable an appropriate and graduated response to different emergency and crisis scenarios. Which operational level applies in a specific case depends on the extent of the incident. This also determines which levels of the RUB reporting chain are involved. First of all, the RUB control room must be notified of all emergencies by calling (0234 32)-23333. The RUB control room can then call in the head of the technical standby (LTB). In the case of level 2 incidents, the LTB can involve the on-call service at management level (BDL). In the event of major incidents, the BDL would then convene the RUB crisis management team.
