Research Council of Ruhr University Bochum

The Research Council advises on issues relating to the future design of Ruhr University Bochum's research profile and strategic decisions for future fields.

The research strength of Ruhr University Bochum is reflected in numerous collaborative and individual projects (e.g. ERC grants). In order for Ruhr University Bochum to be well positioned for the future, strategic decisions regarding the research profile and future research priorities are always necessary. In order to obtain advice on these decisions and developments, the Rectorate set up a Research Council in 2024. Experienced RUB academics with a proven track record in research, such as CRC and Cluster of Excellence spokespersons, have been appointed to the Research Council.

The Research Council is intended to advise the Rector and the Vice-Rector for Research and Transfer in particular on issues relating to the future design of Ruhr-Universität Bochum's research profile and strategic decisions for future fields - beyond particular and specialist interests.

The Research Council usually meets once a semester.
