Central exposure directory

Ruhr-Universität Bochum offers a central exposure database (ZED) for work involving exposure to carcinogenic, germ cell mutagenic or reprotoxic hazardous substances of categories 1A or 1B.

More information about the ZED

If you are at risk from carcinogenic, germ cell mutagenic or reprotoxic substances of category 1A or 1B due to your work or studies at RUB, RUB as the responsible party is obliged to document this, keep it for 40 or 5 years (archiving obligation) and hand it over to you (obligation to hand it over) when you leave RUB.

The long storage period is in your interest and serves as proof of any occupational illness that may occur at a later date.

The legislator has stipulated that the employer can transfer the archiving and handover obligation to the responsible accident insurance institution (UVT) with your consent. For this reason, the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) has set up a database for the central registration of employees and students exposed to carcinogenic substances (ZED). The Ruhr University Bochum has joined this database. Other employers also use the ZED so that their exposure data from various employment relationships and periods of study can be archived there.

If it is necessary to store exposure data due to your activity, RUB will enter the required data into the ZED. You can obtain a printout of your data stored in the ZED from the DGUV at any time on request. A request form is available for this purpose on the ZED homepage (Request to the ZED).

Further information can also be found on the ZED homepage and from the RUB Occupational Safety and Environmental Protection Unit, which enters the data submitted by users into the database.
