The digital world of Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) is colorful and diverse. The Agency for Online Communication is open to all RUB institutions seeking support and exchange on the topic of online communication with various consulting and service offers.
Together with the editorial team of University Communications, we operate the central website, expand it and develop it further. This also includes RUB's news portal.
The central website bundles the public websites of the university administration, other central institutions and the strategic topics of the university management and represents the entire Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) in the areas of studies, research, university and institutions – even if only by reference.
Decentralized institutions, such as faculties, regularly have their own websites, which they create and maintain themselves.

A new website, a relaunch or even a website that is not performing well initially raises many questions. We provide advice on all the possibilities and special features that need to be considered in the RUB online world. We explain topics such as accessibility – which we are legally obliged to do at RUB – and search engine optimization (SEO). In the training course "RUB website development from construction to maintenance", we outline all the steps from the initial consideration to the operation of a website.

We regularly share our expertise with RUB employees in central and decentralized student marketing.
We are planning our own exchange format on the topic of online communication for all creators of websites of any kind on campus in order to share know-how, address difficulties together, communicate requirements and celebrate successes.
We can use various tools to examine your websites in terms of accessibility, usability and search engine optimization. Based on these findings, you can make appropriate adjustments to the content or structure of your website. Feel free to contact us!
We coordinate the use of the Siteimprove tool at RUB. It can be used to remove digital barriers on websites and improve user-friendliness. On request, we can set up your websites in Siteimprove so that the tool can record and check them, train you in their use and advise you on any questions you may have.

Are you planning a newsletter as a communication tool? This channel needs a coherent concept. Make sure you schedule a kick-off meeting with us right from the start. We have a wealth of experience and will be happy to introduce you to Ruhr University Bochum's data protection-compliant, sharepoint-based tool.
If required, we support new researchers, newly appointed professors and new institutions with an initial website in the RUB corporate design. This makes you quickly visible and directly connected to Ruhr University Bochum.
