University Election Assembly

The University Election Assembly is a new university committee introduced through the Higher Education Act of NRW on 1 October 2014. University Election Assembly meetings can be attended by members of the university, provided enough seats are available.

Duties of the University Election Assembly

The only duty of the University Election Assembly is the election and recall of members of the Rectorate. The assembly is called solely for this purpose. It thus decides on one of the most essential issues at a university. The committee consists of all members of the Senate and the University Council. Senate members with voting rights and all members of the University Council are eligible to vote. The Senate members with voting rights and the members of the University Council have the same number of votes; accordingly, there is an equality of votes between Senate and University Council members in the University Election Assembly, regardless of the number of members on each side.
