“I See Your Pain, Despite Mine” – Radical Empathy and Rehumanisation:
Panel Talk mit Palestinians and Jews for Peace
Palestinians and Jews for Peace ist eine Gruppe palästinensischer, israelischer, jüdischer und anderer emanzipatorischer Freund*innen in Solidarität, die sich für einen differenzierten Dialog sowie für einen mitfühlenden und respektvollen Umgang einsetzen, um die bestehenden Narrative zu verändern.
In Zeiten tiefgreifender Konflikte, zunehmender Polarisierung und schmerzhafter Spaltung laden wir zu einem Raum des mutigen Zuhörens und der radikalen Empathie ein. Bei unserem Paneltalk sprechen wir über die Auswirkungen des Krieges in Israel / Palästina und darüber, wie er die Menschen vor Ort, aber auch bei uns in Deutschland beeinflusst.
Anstatt festgefahrene Positionen oder moralische Gewissheiten zu bestärken, wagt diese Veranstaltung die Auseinandersetzung mit Widersprüchen und Komplexität. Wir wollen einen Dialog schaffen, der auf Würde, gegenseitiger Anerkennung und dem Verständnis basiert, dass Solidarität keine Einigkeit voraussetzt – sondern die Bereitschaft, im Gespräch zu bleiben, gerade wenn es schwerfällt.
Wir wollen erkunden, was es heißt, wirklich zuzuhören, auch wenn es weh tut. Frieden beginnt dort, wo wir Raum für den Schmerz der Anderen schaffen und in Beziehung bleiben. Dies ist ein Aufruf, Solidarität zu schützen – gerade in schwierigen Zeiten.
Die Veranstaltung ist für alle Studierenden und Mitarbeitenden der UA-Ruhr Universitäten (Bochum, Duisburg-Essen, Dortmund) geöffnet. Der Raum wird einige Tage vor der Veranstaltung bekanntgegeben.

Panel Talk with Palestinians and Jews for Peace
Palestinians and Jews for Peace is a group of Palestinian, Israeli, Jewish, and other emancipatory friends in solidarity, committed to fostering nuanced dialogue and cultivating a compassionate and respectful exchange in order to transform existing narratives.
In times of deep conflict, growing polarization, and painful division, we invite you to a space of courageous listening and radical empathy. In our panel talk, we will discuss the impacts of the war in Israel/Palestine and how it affects people both on the ground and here in Germany.
Rather than reinforcing entrenched positions or moral certainties, this event dares to engage with contradictions and complexity. We aim to create a dialogue grounded in dignity, mutual recognition, and the understanding that solidarity does not require agreement – but the willingness to stay in conversation, especially when it’s difficult.
We want to explore what it truly means to listen, even when it hurts. Peace begins where we make room for one another’s pain and remain in relationship. This is a call to protect solidarity – especially in challenging times.
The event is open to all students and staff of the UA Ruhr universities (Bochum, Duisburg-Essen, Dortmund). The room will be announced a few days before the event.
